Ahmed Hossam "Mido" was hospitalized with a stroke after his son's prison sentence was upheld, leading to his admission to intensive care in Cairo.

Ahmed Hossam, known as "Mido," the former star of Zamalek Club and the Egyptian national team, suffered a stroke and was admitted to a hospital in Cairo where he was placed in intensive care.
Over the past 24 hours, Mido underwent a series of medical examinations. The medical team advised that he remain under close observation in the intensive care unit until his health condition stabilizes.
This health incident occurred shortly after the refusal to overturn the imprisonment sentence of his son, who received a final ruling sentencing him to seven months in prison.
Hossam Mido's son, Hussein, faces charges including possession and use of narcotics as well as driving without a license.
Mido has had a distinguished coaching career, having managed several Egyptian clubs, most notably Zamalek, with whom he won the Egypt Cup during the 2013-2014 season. He also coached Ismaily, Wadi Degla, and Misr El-Makasa, in addition to a stint in the Saudi league with Al-Wehda during the 2018-2019 season.
