Barcelona Initiates Move to Reacquire Winger Virgilie at Reduced Price
Barcelona held talks with representatives of winger Yan Virgilie to discuss his return following Mallorca's relegation, with a reduced transfer fee in place.

Three representatives from Global Assis, the agency managing 19-year-old player Yan Virgilie, met with Barcelona's sporting director Deco on Monday at the club's training facility to discuss the potential return of the Mallorca winger to the Catalan club after Mallorca's drop to the second division.
According to Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo, citing sources close to Barcelona, the meeting included Alvaro Aicuan, Isaac Garcia, and former footballer Nacho Monreal. They examined the details of Virgilie's possible return. Despite attracting interest from multiple clubs, Virgilie concentrated fully on helping Mallorca avoid relegation during his debut season in the top flight, which contributed to his development.
Virgilie appeared in 31 league matches for Mallorca this season, scoring two goals and providing six assists. However, he started only 11 games and came off the bench in the remainder, totaling 1,796 minutes. He lost his starting position following the arrival of Demichelis, who implemented a 4-4-2 formation without traditional wingers. Additionally, Virgilie played in three Copa del Rey matches, all as a substitute, totaling 28 minutes.
Barcelona had reached an agreement with Mallorca regarding Virgilie's transfer on August 28, 2025, retaining 40% of any future sale of the winger and securing a right of first refusal. Virgilie signed a contract until 2030 with a release clause set at €30 million, which would reduce to €12 million if Mallorca were relegated to the second division. Since Mallorca was relegated, this reduction activates, allowing Barcelona to re-sign him at a lower price.
