Barcelona seek 19:00 kickoff for Clasico amid severe weather alerts

Club officials have formally requested that the upcoming women’s Clasico against Real Madrid be rescheduled to a 19:00 kickoff. This move aims to secure optimal playing conditions as meteorological warnings escalate across Catalonia ahead of Sunday’s fixture at Spotify Camp Nou.

Weather-driven schedule adjustments

According to Sport, Barcelona maintain active communication with the Spanish women's league association to monitor evolving atmospheric patterns. The club seeks sufficient organizational buffer time to ensure the match proceeds under the best possible circumstances despite deteriorating forecasts expected through the afternoon and into early Sunday morning.

Regional match suspensions

The Catalan Football Federation has already cancelled all scheduled matches from 17:00 Saturday evening across multiple districts including Maresme, Vallès Occidental, Barcelona, Baix Llobregat, Alt Penedès, Baix Penedès, Garraf, Alt Camp, Baix Camp, Tarragonès, and Terres de l'Ebre. This suspension remains in effect from 20:00 Saturday until 14:00 Sunday afternoon.

Coastal zones in Tarragona, Barcelona, and Girona face the most severe impact. The Catalan meteorological agency raised the danger level to its maximum rating of 6 out of 6, prompting civil protection authorities to activate the Inuncat plan in its emergency phase.

Coach Romeu addresses fan experience

Pere Romeu, the head coach of Real Madrid Femenino, stated he possesses no information suggesting the game will not take place, emphasizing that team focus remains at its highest level. While acknowledging that sunny conditions typically enhance spectator enjoyment, Romeu argued that rain could inject greater energy and emotional intensity into the contest.

"I want to motivate everyone, because the rain gives matches greater energy and adds an interesting emotional element," Romeu noted. He expressed hope that enthusiasm would persist among attendees regardless of the precipitation.
