Cristiano Ronaldo spoke out regarding recent speculation about his international career ahead of Portugal's round of 32 match against Croatia in the 2026 FIFA World Cup hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

The Portuguese newspaper A Bola reported that Ronaldo's sister, Katia Aveiro, had suggested that his international career might be nearing its end prior to Portugal's 2-1 win over Croatia. After the match, Ronaldo addressed these remarks.

Speaking to Sport TV following the game, Ronaldo said, "Cristiano's future is not important right now. I will discuss it with my family, whether we win or lose. I no longer make decisions hastily. Now everything is calm, and we will try to enjoy today."

Ronaldo also commented on Croatian star Luka Modrić, who saw his team eliminated by Portugal in the round of 32.

Referring to his former Real Madrid teammate, Ronaldo stated, "I said goodbye to him after the match. He will remain a great football legend. We are almost the same age, and I have great respect for him and everything he has contributed to football."
