Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo announced on Thursday his retirement from international football with his national team at the age of 41, after a career spanning since 2003, during which he broke many records.

This came several weeks after a crisis marked by his departure from the national team camp following a disagreement with coach Jorge Jesus over not being included in one of the UEFA Nations League matches.

Ronaldo said in a video posted on his Instagram account: "Today my journey with the national team comes to an end."

The Al Nassr striker, who started his international career in 2003, played 234 matches for the Portuguese team and scored 146 goals.
