Jesus lawyer says Ronaldo's obsession ruins his legacy
Luis Henrique, Jorge Jesus’s lawyer, criticized Cristiano Ronaldo for surrounding himself with yes-men and ruining his public image.

Luis Henrique, the attorney representing football manager Jorge Jesus, launched a sharp verbal attack against Cristiano Ronaldo amid the intensifying dispute between the Portuguese national team captain and his coach. The conflict has cast a significant shadow over the domestic football landscape in Portugal.
Criticism of Ronaldo’s behavior
Henrique directed pointed criticism at the Al Nassr star, arguing that Ronaldo’s conduct and fixation on specific statistics are negatively impacting how the public perceives the achievements accumulated throughout his career. In statements highlighted by Tribuna, the lawyer asserted that no rival had managed to achieve what Ronaldo currently does: destroying the ability of people to remember the positive contributions he has made.
He further claimed that Ronaldo increasingly surrounds himself with individuals who tell him only what he wishes to hear, while distancing himself from those who offer necessary truths. Concluding this segment of his critique, Henrique stated that this is the fate of gods and tyrants, who ultimately end up isolated on Mount Olympus, surrounded by mirrors.
Reasons for leaving Record newspaper
Beyond criticizing Ronaldo’s personal behavior, Henrique revealed the rationale behind his decision to cease writing for the daily "Record." He explained that the Portuguese captain holds a substantial stake in MediaLever, the company that owns the publication.
Henrique argued that continuing to collaborate with and receive payment from an entity owned by Ronaldo would be inappropriate and embarrassing, particularly given the clash between the player and Jesus, which extends to a conflict between Ronaldo and himself. He emphasized that intellectual independence cannot exist without financial independence.
According to Henrique, those who express opinions regarding authority should not be subordinate to the very power they criticize. He expressed a preference for freeing himself from such constraints to ensure no one believes they can impose consequences on him. He concluded by stating that freedom exercised only when it costs nothing is opportunism, a motive he claims never drove his writing.
Background of the coaching dispute
The crisis involving Cristiano Ronaldo and Jorge Jesus began during the most recent international break. It started after the Portuguese captain objected to the manner in which the coach handled him during the match against Norway in the Nations League.
Ronaldo’s account suggests there was an agreement to manage his participation based on his physical condition. However, he stated he was surprised by the coach’s request for him to warm up during the second half without subsequently entering the game, viewing this as a breach of their arrangement.
The disagreement escalated when Ronaldo left the national team camp prior to the fixture against Denmark. Following his departure, he issued statements accusing Jesus of failing to keep his promise, while simultaneously expressing readiness to accept any disciplinary measures imposed upon him.
In response to Ronaldo leaving the camp, the Portuguese Football Federation initiated disciplinary proceedings against him and announced a temporary suspension.
