Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus has left the door open for Cristiano Ronaldo's return to the squad during the upcoming international break in November, following the captain's departure from the current camp.

Portugal secured their qualification for the UEFA Nations League quarter-finals after defeating Norway 2-1 on Sunday evening.

Ronaldo left the Portugal training camp days ago and stated via his official social media accounts that he would clarify matters later, having been excluded from participation against Norway in the second matchday of the Nations League group stage.

Jesús spoke frankly about Ronaldo's situation, confirming that the future of the Al-Nassr star with the national team remains open and that the final decision regarding his continuation with Portugal lies with the player himself.

Jorge Jesus said in comments published by Portuguese newspaper "A Bola": "I don't know what will happen. For me, all possibilities are open. Ronaldo must make a decision about his future before the announcement of the Portugal squad."

He added: "If he is playing and wants to join the national team, he can return whenever he wishes. Why not? It was just a misunderstanding, and in my opinion, it is easy to resolve. I have no problem with that. When will it be resolved? I don't know, we'll see. The match has just ended."

The problems began after the match against Norway, where Ronaldo remained on the bench throughout the game despite warming up, while Gonçalo Ramos scored the winning goal in the match that ended 2-1.

Tensions between the player and Jesus escalated further when the coach announced that Ronaldo would also miss the starting lineup against Denmark, emphasizing that he would not change his tactical decisions to please any individual.

So far, the crisis remains unresolved, as reports indicate Jesus' readiness to hold new talks with Ronaldo in an attempt to end the dispute, although the Portuguese captain has yet to respond to this invitation.
