Liverpool’s £50m bid for Sarr rejected by Crystal Palace, Romano confirms

Liverpool’s £50 million proposal for Ismaila Sarr was turned down by Crystal Palace today, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Merseyside club has shifted focus to the Palace talisman after abandoning talks over Brighton and Hove Albion’s Yankuba Minteh, whose £80 million valuation proved prohibitive.

Brighton face no financial urgency to sell Minteh, having just received £65 million upfront from Manchester United for Carlos Baleba.

INEOS had previously identified Sarr as a potential signing earlier in the transfer window, when Marcus Rashford’s departure appeared certain. That interest did not materialise after Barcelona opted to bypass Rashford’s buy option.

Crystal Palace have already rebuffed two offers for Sarr from Galatasaray, and the club’s board considers him off-limits.

Sarr is reported to be keen on a move away, though Palace’s window to secure an acceptable replacement is narrowing.

Manchester United remain active in the market for an attacker, with their efforts likely to intensify should Joshua Zirkzee depart.

Despite repeated summer links between Sarr and United, involvement at this stage is deemed highly unlikely.

No further details were provided regarding alternative targets United may consider if Zirkzee leaves.
