Manchester City Women overcame a two-goal deficit to beat Arsenal 4-2, leaving the North London side in 10th place.

League leaders Manchester City Women extended their unbeaten start to the Women's Super League campaign with a 4-2 comeback win over Arsenal on Sunday. The result leaves the North London club in 10th position, already 10 points behind the top of the table.
Arsenal struck first through Lisa Baum and later regained the lead via Alessia Russo, but City responded forcefully. Lauren Hemp narrowed the gap just before half-time, setting up a second-half surge that overwhelmed the visitors. Substitute Kerstin Casparij equalized in the 63rd minute shortly after entering the pitch, scoring a brilliant goal to level the contest.
Hemp then put City ahead for the first time with a composed finish through the goalkeeper’s legs. Khadija Shaw sealed the victory by dummying past Leah Williamson and reversing her shot into the net, completing a dominant turnaround for the home side.
Despite registering 16 attempts on goal and controlling possession at times, Arsenal failed to maintain their leads twice. Defensive vulnerabilities and poor game management proved costly, piling pressure on manager Renee Slegers. After the final whistle, Slegers was seen applauding and apologizing to travelling fans, who responded with encouraging applause despite the team’s dismal start to the season.
Both teams will resume WSL action following the international break. Arsenal face Birmingham City on Saturday, October 17, aiming to rescue their faltering campaign. Manchester City host Brighton on Sunday, October 18, looking to extend their flawless domestic run.
