Manchester United Renew Interest in Carlos Baleba Amid Midfield Needs
Manchester United may revive their pursuit of Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba, who reportedly prefers a move to Old Trafford despite a high transfer fee.

Manchester United are reportedly reconsidering a transfer bid for Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba following setbacks in other midfield targets.
Tottenham Hotspur recently secured Mateus Fernandes, a player who had also attracted interest from Manchester United.
According to iNews, Manchester United found Fernandes too costly, while BBC Sport reports that Manchester City successfully signed Elliot Anderson, another player United had considered.
Potential Return to Pursuit of Baleba
Baleba was a notable target for Manchester United last summer, but Brighton were reluctant to sell the young Cameroon international at that time.
Despite a recent decline in form, Brighton are expected to demand a transfer fee around £70 million for Baleba, as reported by Give Me Sport.
It remains uncertain whether Manchester United are willing to meet that valuation for the 22-year-old, who may now appear overpriced after not sustaining the performance level that initially drew the club’s attention.
With Casemiro’s exit leaving a significant gap in midfield, Manchester United urgently need to strengthen this area under Michael Carrick’s management.
Additionally, the club faces challenges due to Manuel Ugarte’s serious injury sustained during the World Cup while playing for Uruguay, increasing the need for midfield depth.
Although Baleba may not be an ideal fit, the current market conditions—with inflated prices for players like Anderson and Fernandes—could make him a viable option for Manchester United to consider.
