“I believe Omar Marmoush is about to leave,” Maresca stated. “It hasn’t been officially announced yet, but he will most likely depart.” His remarks effectively ended speculation over the player’s future at Manchester City.
Al-Youm Al-Sabi’ first reported exclusively on Friday, 21 August, that Tottenham Hotspur had secured the services of Egypt national team player Omar Marmoush during the ongoing summer transfer period.
Sources cited by Al-Youm Al-Sabi’ indicated that Tottenham had agreed terms with Marmoush and that an official announcement was imminent — expected within hours of the report.
Omar Marmoush is preparing to become Tottenham Hotspur’s highest-paid player, based on the substantial weekly salary he currently receives at Manchester City.
According to Planet Football, Marmoush earns £295,000 per week at Manchester City. Reports indicate he is insisting on a comparable figure at Tottenham and will not accept a significant reduction from his current earnings.
If Marmoush secures the same £295,000 weekly wage at Tottenham, he would surpass all teammates by a wide margin — potentially prompting the London club’s management to reassess its overall salary structure to prevent future dressing-room tensions.
Dutch defender Mick van de Ven ranks second on Tottenham’s current wage list at £200,000 per week. Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali sits third with a weekly salary of £195,000. Dutch midfielder Xavi Simons matches Tonali’s figure at £195,000 per week. Portuguese midfielder Matheus Fernandes occupies fifth place with a weekly wage of approximately £175,000.
Under those figures, Marmoush’s proposed £295,000 weekly salary would exceed the next-highest earner by £95,000 — underscoring his elevated market valuation in the current transfer cycle.
