Newcastle United Pursues Kyran Thompson Following Arsenal Departure
Newcastle United is seeking to sign midfielder Kyran Thompson after his Arsenal contract expired, competing with several top clubs for the 16-year-old's signature.

Following the expiration of his contract with Arsenal last week, English midfielder Kyran Thompson is attracting interest from Newcastle United.
The club aims to bolster its youth squad with players who have the potential to break into Eddie Howe’s first-team setup.
Newcastle had previously tried to secure Thompson’s transfer for the 2024 season, but the player opted to join Arsenal after departing from West Ham United’s academy.
Despite Newcastle’s efforts, the 16-year-old’s signature is not assured, as Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Liverpool are also monitoring his status.
Two years ago, Arsenal secured Thompson’s commitment ahead of Spurs, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Newcastle, and now the Magpies hope to be successful in signing him.
Thompson did not receive assurances regarding a clear route to Arsenal’s first team and has decided to leave after not agreeing to a new contract.
It remains uncertain if Newcastle can meet Thompson’s expectations, but discussions are anticipated as the club pursues his transfer to Tyneside.
Thompson is among several youth players departing Arsenal this summer; Manchester City is also reportedly interested in signing Mishel Nduka from the club.
Although Arsenal offered Nduka improved contract terms, he is currently out of contract, and a move to Newcastle appears probable.
