Olmo’s agent reveals Bayern Munich rejected transfer twice
Dani Olmo's adviser Andy Bara disclosed that the Barcelona playmaker turned down Bayern Munich offers while at Dinamo Zagreb and Leipzig.

Andy Bara, adviser to Barcelona forward Dani Olmo, confirmed that the player declined moves to Bayern Munich on two separate occasions. The revelation emerged during an appearance on the podcast Incubator, where Bara detailed the strategic career decisions that kept Olmo away from the German giants despite their persistent interest.
Early rejection of Munich interest
Bara stated that he personally advised against a transfer to Bayern when Olmo was still playing for Dinamo Zagreb. "He turned down Bayern on my initiative when he was still at Dinamo," Bara explained. His reasoning focused on developmental progression: "I told him: You need another step forward. That is how it happened."
The 28-year-old attacking midfielder had joined Dinamo after leaving La Masia, spending time with the club between 2014 and 2020. During his tenure in Zagreb, Olmo accumulated 124 competitive appearances before moving to RB Leipzig. Although Munich officials were involved in discussions during this period, no deal materialized following Bara's counsel.
Second refusal during Leipzig tenure
Bayern Munich renewed their pursuit of the Spaniard after he established himself as a key figure at RB Leipzig. According to Bara, Olmo received another offer from the Munich club while contracted there. Despite this second approach, the transfer did not occur. Neither the initial inquiry nor the subsequent advances resulted in a move to Germany.
Bara also highlighted Olmo’s enduring connection to his former club. "He wants to end his career at Dinamo and hopes that will happen, even as a coach," the adviser revealed. He noted that Olmo intends to begin his coaching journey at Dinamo. Even while residing in Barcelona, the player reportedly continues to wear a Dinamo shirt featuring the number seven and his name.
Recent transfer dynamics and squad planning
Interest from Munich resurfaced recently amid rumors linking Olmo back to the Bundesliga side. This speculation coincides with reports suggesting Bayern’s decision-makers are monitoring potential departures of Jamal Musiala and Michael Olise. To mitigate risks associated with losing these players, the club is apparently considering Olmo as a replacement option.
In summer 2024, Bayern executives pushed aggressively to sign Olmo but lost out in the bidding war. Instead, the player returned to Barcelona, who paid €61 million to secure his services from Leipzig. Olmo currently holds a contract with the Catalan club until 2030, leading to valuations around €70 million for any future transfer.
Performance metrics under Hansi Flick
Despite his high profile, Olmo has not secured a regular starting position under head coach Hansi Flick. In the current season, he started only three of eight competitive matches. However, his impact remains significant, having recorded three assists in those limited appearances.
Since rejoining Barcelona, Olmo has contributed 20 goals and 20 assists across 96 matches. These statistics underscore his continued relevance in elite competition, even as his role within the squad fluctuates based on tactical choices by the coaching staff.
