Real Madrid to Pay €15 Million to Sign Mourinho if Perez Wins Presidency
Benfica announced that Real Madrid will pay €15 million to acquire José Mourinho if Florentino Pérez wins the club presidency on Sunday.

Benfica officially declared on Thursday that Real Madrid will pay the €15 million release clause in coach José Mourinho’s contract if Florentino Pérez secures the presidency in the upcoming Sunday elections.
The presidency race at the historic white club features Florentino Pérez competing against Enrique Riquelme, with Pérez pledging to bring Mourinho back as head coach if he wins.
In a statement from the Lisbon-based club, Benfica confirmed Real Madrid’s serious intent to sign Mourinho contingent on Pérez’s victory in the June 7 presidential election.
The statement added that if Pérez assumes the presidency, Real Madrid will pay the €15 million fee to break Mourinho’s contract with Benfica.
Mourinho initially took charge of Real Madrid in the summer of 2010 aiming to end the dominance of their traditional rival. He was dismissed exactly three years later, having won the league title, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup during his tenure.
