Roma’s Manu Kone Considered a Key Midfield Target for Manchester United

Manchester United is reportedly pursuing Roma’s Manu Kone as a prominent midfield option this summer, even after securing deals for Chelsea’s Andrey Santos and Atalanta’s Ederson.

United has finalized a €58.5 million (£50 million) transfer for Chelsea’s Andrey Santos. Meanwhile, Ederson is undergoing medical examinations in the UK as part of a potential €45 million move from Atalanta.

Kone Emerges as a Serious Transfer Option

Graeme Bailey of TeamTalk reports that Manchester United retains sufficient budget to bring in a third midfielder this summer. Manu Kone of Roma has surfaced as a serious candidate for this role.

Kone is among several players linked with a departure from Roma, as the club continues to navigate UEFA’s financial fair play settlement restrictions.

Transfer Speculations and Valuation

Italian media during the off-season have connected the French international with a high-value transfer away from Roma’s Stadio Olimpico, including interest from Premier League champions Arsenal. While an initial price tag of €50 million was suggested, TeamTalk indicates that following Kone’s significant participation with France at the 2026 World Cup, the valuation could now approach €58.5 million (£50 million).
