Ronaldo faces suspension and fines after leaving Portugal camp
Cristiano Ronaldo risks a one-to-six-month ban and financial penalties under Portuguese Football Federation rules following his departure from the national team camp in Copenhagen.

Cristiano Ronaldo faces potential disciplinary action after exiting the Portugal national team training camp in Copenhagen, Denmark. The departure occurred immediately following a press conference held by head coach Jorge Jesus.
Disciplinary regulations apply to exit
Under the Portuguese Football Federation’s disciplinary code, players officially summoned to the national squad who leave or miss training sessions, matches, or any team-related activity without justification are subject to sanctions. These penalties include suspensions ranging from one month to six months.
Professional players also face monetary fines calculated between five and ten accounting units. According to the regulations, this equates to approximately 500 to 1,000 euros. Article 160 of the code further stipulates that unauthorized absence or departure may trigger an automatic precautionary suspension as defined within the disciplinary system procedures.
Coach asserts final authority on lineup
The incident followed statements by Jorge Jesus, who affirmed his sole authority over the starting lineup. The coach noted that a player’s status does not grant them special treatment compared to other members of the squad.
The Portuguese Football Federation confirmed Ronaldo’s exit from the camp. The body stated that preparations for upcoming matches against Denmark and Norway would continue with the remaining 24 called-up players. No official reason was provided for the captain’s departure.
Player promises future explanation
Ronaldo addressed the situation via social media accounts, stating he decided to leave the camp after speaking with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation. He indicated that he would reveal the true reasons behind his decision "in due time."
