The Brazilian forward apologized to teammates and fans but accused officials of targeting him following his dismissal against Villarreal.

Real Madrid’s victory over Villarreal was overshadowed by Vinícius Júnior’s controversial exit, which prompted the forward to publicly apologize to the club while simultaneously accusing match officials of systematic bias. The 1-0 win at the Santiago Bernabéu on Saturday saw Los Blancos hold their lead despite playing the final minutes with ten men.
Following the final whistle, the Brazilian winger took to Instagram to address the incident that occurred in the 72nd minute. He expressed regret for leaving his squad short-handed during a critical phase of the game, stating, "The happiness continues. I apologise to my team and its supporters."
However, the tone shifted sharply in subsequent social media updates. Vinícius shared a collection of images from previous matches, alleging that opponents frequently escaped punishment for fouls or physical contact directed at him. In a pointed comment, he wrote, "The player who always gets both the yellow and the red card is Vinícius, what a disgrace," signaling deep frustration with what he perceives as inconsistent officiating standards.
The red card stemmed from an intense sequence involving a disallowed goal. Having entered the pitch as a second-half substitute, Vinícius initially appeared to have extended Real Madrid’s advantage by scoring a second goal. The referee nullified the strike, ruling that the forward had committed a foul on a Villarreal defender during the buildup play.
Specifically, the official determined that Vinícius pulled Saliba’s hair prior to the shot. This decision resulted in an immediate ejection, with the player shown walking down the tunnel visibly agitated and gesturing in protest against the call.
With Vinícius sent off, Real Madrid were forced to defend their single-goal margin for the remainder of the contest. Yan Diomande had secured the decisive scoreline earlier in the match, finding the net in the 63rd minute. The team successfully maintained this narrow lead through the numerical disadvantage, preserving three points in the league standings.
