Dr. Yelena Silantyeva states that women's sexual health depends on overall health rather than age, highlighting key factors affecting libido and intimacy.

Dr. Yelena Silantyeva, a specialist in gynecology and obstetrics, emphasized that a woman's sexual health is not determined by her age but rather by her general health condition.
She explained that as women age, certain changes occur that impact their sexual function. Among the primary factors are alterations in appearance and body image. Psychological comfort and self-confidence are essential for maintaining a healthy sexual desire, making physical activity and self-care priorities.
In addition, noticeable changes in gynecological health can arise even before menopause, typically between the ages of 40 and 45. Signs of aging in the reproductive organs, such as dryness and reduced sensitivity, may develop, causing intimacy to become uncomfortable.
Dr. Silantyeva stated, "This can later lead to vaginal atrophy, a condition that requires thorough diagnosis and serious treatment."
She also noted that pelvic floor muscle weakness negatively affects quality of life. Symptoms that may initially seem minor can progress into serious conditions. For example, ligament weakness and collagen loss can cause organ prolapse, which impacts the sexual activity of both partners.
The doctor highlighted the critical role of psychological state in preserving sexual desire. Menopause is often accompanied by irritability, anxiety, and depression, and these mood fluctuations can independently reduce sexual desire regardless of physical factors.
According to Dr. Silantyeva, maintaining sexual activity at age sixty and beyond requires a comprehensive health approach. Proper nutrition supports the health of mucous membranes, while regular exercise strengthens muscles. Additionally, preserving mental health through social interaction and effective communication is crucial.
She further mentioned that there is growing global awareness about the need for hormonal therapy during menopause. This has become especially important for women, as modern medicine should not allow aging to diminish quality of life.
