The Public Relations Department of the Municipality of Beirut announced in a statement that "the Beirut Municipal Guard carried out, during the month of September 2026, a series of field missions in various neighborhoods of the capital, as part of efforts to strengthen security and public order, maintain public safety, and continue enforcing laws and regulations.

These missions come under the directives of the Governor of Beirut, Judge Marwan Abboud, and the instructions of the Commander of the Guard Brigade, Brigadier General Abbas Al-Husseini, based on the report issued by the brigade's operations room, which includes the tally of work and field missions executed during the past month.

The most prominent missions included the following:

(80) joint missions with the Beirut Police at the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces, implementing the decision of the Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmad Al-Hajjar, aimed at tightening measures to control traffic violations, reducing transgressions that threaten public safety, and enhancing discipline on roads.

(39) missions to support Beirut municipality services and classified institutions, in addition to health services and the traffic and sanitation departments, contributing to facilitating municipal work execution and following up on various field affairs.

(147) missions for patrolling fields aimed at combating waste scavenging, reducing begging, preventing the spread of street vendors, carts, and stalls, and addressing violations and encroachments in the streets and neighborhoods of the capital, preserving public order and the urban landscape. A number of violators were arrested and handed over to competent security authorities to take necessary legal actions.

(28) diverse missions including prohibiting motorcycle traffic on public sidewalks along the sea corniche, preserving the safety of citizens and pedestrians, alongside establishing fixed checkpoints in several areas, including Ard Jouloul, to prevent dumping rubble and solid materials into waste containers or on roads and in public places.

These procedures come within the ongoing efforts of the City Guard Brigade to raise the level of public safety, enhance discipline, reduce violations and encroachments, contributing to maintaining public order and the civilized appearance of the capital."
