The Strong Lebanon bloc welcomed the Constitutional Council's partial annulment of the amnesty law, while condemning Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and demanding a reversal of generator fee hikes.

The "Strong Lebanon" bloc held its regular meeting chaired by MP Gebran Bassil, discussed its agenda, and issued the following statement:
1- The bloc welcomed the Constitutional Council's decision regarding the appeal against the general amnesty law it had previously filed. The decision partially annulled the law and imposed binding interpretations, including excluding all corruption crimes in both the public and private sectors and safeguarding the state's right to recover funds, as well as excluding forgery crimes and repeat offenses in drug crimes. It also excluded intentional murder crimes and aggravated sentences from the amnesty, while confirming guarantees to protect justice and the rights of victims' families and army martyrs.
Thus, the bloc succeeded in limiting the catastrophic repercussions of the amnesty law without affecting the exemption of wronged Islamists, thereby refuting all allegations made against it in this regard.
2- The bloc expressed concern over the seizure of mobile explosives across the country, affirming its support for security agencies in maintaining security and stability, and demanded a swift and comprehensive investigation by the judiciary. The bloc reaffirmed its rejection of any acts that compromise security and fall outside the scope of the state, as well as any form of political assault, holding the government responsible for controlling borders, pursuing smuggling networks, and preventing the transfer of weapons outside the framework of legitimacy.
3- The bloc condemned the Houthi attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, particularly the targeting of airports and civilian facilities, considering them an unacceptable aggression against the Kingdom's sovereignty and a threat to civilian safety and regional stability. The bloc affirmed its solidarity with the Kingdom and its right to protect its territory, citizens, and residents in accordance with international law. The bloc believes that ending this explosive situation can only be achieved through a political negotiation process.
4- The "Strong Lebanon" bloc directed a question to the government regarding the decision taken by the Minister of Energy to raise generator fees by 10%, which resulted in additional charges on citizens' bills beyond fuel prices, in a step that imposes new financial burdens on Lebanese people. This decision comes without any justification, at a time when the cry of the Lebanese has become loud after the Ministry of Darkness added such heavy burdens, causing citizens' purchasing power to continuously decline.
The bloc demands that the government and the Minister of Energy immediately reverse this increase, which has no explanation other than increasing the profits of generator owners by 10% over their previous earnings, proving their monopoly and manipulation of prices.
5- The bloc salutes, on the anniversary of October 13, 1990, the souls of military and civilian martyrs who fell defending sovereignty and legitimacy, and recalls the joint prayer to be held at 4:00 PM next Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the Platia Hall in Sahel Alma.
The commemoration of the "October 13" anniversary is organized on October 17 because the two dates represented two sides of collusion against legitimacy. The first was a military operation against General Michel Aoun at Baabda Palace in 1990, while the second, in 2019, was an economic and financial operation targeting President Michel Aoun's term. The goal is one: to undermine the Free Patriotic Movement, and the movement's response is to continue its struggle through its members.
