After Clashes Between Amal and Hezbollah Supporters, Iranian Flag Removed in Houmin Al-Fawqa by Judicial Order

The judiciary issued a decision ordering the removal of an "Iranian flag" that had been raised on one of the houses in the town of Houmin Al-Fawqa – Nabatieh district.

Judicial sources explained to "Al-Jadeed" channel that the story began after clashes occurred between supporters of the "Amal Movement" and "Hezbollah" regarding the raising of flags.

In detail, supporters of the movement raised their flag on communal land belonging to the municipality, but party supporters proceeded to remove the flag. At that point, movement supporters moved and raised the flag again, but this time they secured it with a "concrete base,"

which was met with the response of raising the Iranian flag on the roof of one of the surrounding houses. The incident escalated, reaching the local police station, at which point the Public Prosecutor of Appeals in Nabatieh, Judge Najat Abu Shakra, issued a decision ordering the removal of the movement's flag from the communal land and the removal of the Iranian flag because the law prohibits raising the flag of a foreign state on Lebanese territory, whether on public or private property.

The judge's decision was complied with, and the flags were removed through everyone's cooperation. In response to criticisms directed at the judge regarding flags of other countries raised in Beirut and along the airport road, sources clarified that the judge involved in the case has jurisdiction only over the Nabatieh area.
