Chase... Suspect Threw Cocaine 'Bag' from Car

As part of the ongoing efforts by the Internal Security Forces to combat all types of crimes across various Lebanese regions and apprehend perpetrators, particularly drug trafficking and distribution, intelligence was received by the Baalbek Investigation Unit under the Regional Gendarmerie regarding suspicion that the individual:

– M. Q. (born 1961, Lebanese)

had purchased a quantity of narcotics from the town of Houratela, intending to transport and distribute them outside the Baalbek region.

After thorough surveillance and tracking operations, a patrol from the unit managed to apprehend the suspect in the Sraa’een area following a pursuit during which he was driving a Nissan Sunny.

While attempting to flee the patrol, he threw a nylon bag out of the car window. After searching the area, personnel discovered the bag, which contained a transparent plastic box holding approximately 15 grams of cocaine, plus four additional nylon bags containing the same substance, packed inside a paper wrapper, with a total weight of about 20 grams.

After being confronted with the seized items, he admitted ownership and confessed to engaging in transporting narcotics for about two months, for financial compensation, at a rate of twice weekly.

The detained individual, along with the seized materials, was handed over to the competent security unit for legal proceedings, pursuant to instructions from the relevant judicial authority.
