Clash Between Army and Smugglers... Operation Thwarted on the Border
The Lebanese Army thwarted a smuggling operation on the Syrian border, engaging in an armed clash with smugglers in Arsal without casualties and seizing five vehicles loaded with copper, tin, and tobacco.

The following statement was issued by the Army Command – Guidance Directorate:
On 7/10/2026, while implementing exceptional measures to monitor and control the Lebanese-Syrian border, an armed clash occurred in the outskirts of Arsal town between elements of an Army unit and smugglers, without any injuries. The unit thwarted the smuggling operation and seized 5 pickup trucks heading into Lebanese territory, loaded with approximately 5 tons of copper and tin, in addition to a large quantity of tobacco.

The aforementioned unit also arrested citizen (A.H.) for his participation in the smuggling operation.

The seized items were handed over to the competent authorities, and the investigation with the detainee began under the supervision of the competent judiciary.
