The following statement was issued by the Committee of Contractual Professors at the Lebanese University:

The results of the latest survey, in which approximately 800 contractual professors at the Lebanese University participated, showed that more than 90% support the continuation of the strike until the file on full-time status is approved. This decisive stance reflects dissatisfaction with procrastination and repeated promises, especially after the expiration of the one-month period during which the government pledged to approve the file but failed to keep its promise.

In light of this reality, we affirm the following:

- We hold the Minister of Education and the Lebanese government fully responsible for the continuation of the strike and its repercussions on the academic year, due to the delay in approving the full-time status file completely and by name.

- The professors, who placed great hopes on this government to do them justice after more than 12 years of suffering, do not want to be on the verge of losing confidence in it. Accordingly, we call on the government to approve the file immediately before squandering what remains of this trust.

- We once again call on our tenured colleagues and the Association of Full-Time Professors at the university to support us and declare a comprehensive strike in solidarity with their contractual colleagues at this critical stage, confirming the unity of the educational body and defending the dignity of the Lebanese University and its future.

- Our concern for the university and its students does not justify ignoring our rights or pressuring us to retreat. Accordingly, we call on students to accompany the strike and stand with their professors to achieve their legitimate demands.

Deadlines have been exhausted and justifications for postponement have fallen away. The decision now lies with the government: either approve the full-time status file and end the crisis, or continue the strike without retreat, as there will be no return to teaching before this file is approved.
