The Municipality of Amyoun announced that "the town witnessed a notable official visit by the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus, Maria Hadjitheodosiou, and her accompanying delegation, as part of strengthening cultural, historical ties and shared bonds."

The ambassador was accompanied by the Dean of the Institute of Saint John of Damascus Theology at the University of Balamand, Archimandrite Professor Jacob Khalil, and was received by the Mayor of Amyoun, Malik Faris, along with members of the municipal council.

Hadjitheodosiou began her tour by visiting the heritage and historical landmarks in the town, and also visited the Cypriot commemorative plaque that documents and embodies the former presence of the Cypriot army in the region.

The Municipality of Amyoun extended "sincere thanks and gratitude to the parish of the Church of Saint Marina, its priest, council, and members, for the warm reception and good organization that reflects the civilized and hospitable face of our dear town Amyoun, where they presented a souvenir gift to Her Excellency the Ambassador, an icon of Saint Marina, as a blessing and a token of thanks for this visit."
