A deal has been reached between judge Ahmad Rami Hajj and U.S. ambassador Michel Aoun to institutionalize cooperation through regular meetings and provide logistical and technical support to the Lebanese judiciary. Washington seeks to pursue American citizens fleeing to Lebanon with complete files.
Information from MTV website revealed a "deal between judge Ahmad Rami Hajj and U.S. ambassador Michel Aoun on institutionalizing cooperation through regular meetings and providing logistical and technical support to the Lebanese judiciary."
The information added: "The U.S. ambassador conveys Washington's desire to pursue American citizens who have fled to Lebanon with complete files."
It continued: "Washington understands constitutional constraints preventing the extradition of Lebanese nationals and instead requests that they be prosecuted within Lebanese courts as an alternative to extradition."
