Grand Mufti Abdul-Latif Drayan has appointed Sheikh Zuhair Shafiq Al-Kabi to temporarily lead Lebanon's Islamic Endowments, following the end of Dr. Sheikh Muhammad Anis Al-Arwardi's contract on July 31, 2026.

Issued by Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic Sheikh Abdul-Latif Drayan, a decree appointing the General Director of the Zakat Fund and member of the committee acting as the administrative board of Beirut Waqfs, Sheikh Zuhair Shafiq Al-Kabi, to perform the duties of General Director of Islamic Endowments in Lebanon to manage Islamic and administrative affairs until an official director is appointed, following the expiration of Dr. Sheikh Muhammad Anis Al-Arwardi’s contract as General Director of Islamic Endowments on July 31, 2026.
Grand Mufti Drayan handed Sheikh Al-Kabi his appointment letter in the presence of the Secretary of Fatwa of the Lebanese Republic, Chairman of the Administrative Board of Beirut Waqfs Sheikh Amin Al-Karidi, the General Secretary of the Higher Islamic Sharia Council Judge Khdour Znehour, the General Inspector of Waqfs Sheikh Osama Haddad, and staff members.
Grand Mufti Drayan emphasized that "Islamic endowments are a trust, and safeguarding them is a religious duty to strengthen, develop, modernize, and advance them across all regions of Lebanon."
Sheikh Al-Kabi thanked the Grand Mufti for "the trust placed in him," pledging to "dedicate all his capabilities toward developing, modernizing, and growing the endowments," and expressed Grand Mufti Drayan’s wishes for Sheikh Al-Kabi’s success and prosperity in his new role.
Grand Mufti Drayan also highlighted "the efforts and initiatives undertaken by Sheikh Al-Arwardi during his tenure at the General Directorate of Islamic Endowments," whom he had visited before his departure, wishing him well and success in his religious journey for the benefit of Islam and Muslims.
