Hani to Jordan to Boost Lebanese Agricultural Exports

Minister of Agriculture Nizar Hani leaves Lebanon heading to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at the head of a high-level delegation to participate in the Arab Mashreq Agricultural Exports Conference held in the capital Amman, with participation from ministers, officials, experts, and representatives from agricultural and regional trade-related entities.

The conference serves as a platform to explore mechanisms for developing agricultural trade flows among Arab Mashreq countries, facilitating the movement of goods across borders, addressing logistical and technical challenges faced by exporters, and enhancing agricultural integration and food security in the region.

On the sidelines of the conference, Hani will hold a series of official meetings with Jordanian and Arab officials, focusing on expanding markets for Lebanese agricultural products—particularly apples and grapes—and streamlining entry and transit procedures, as well as strengthening technical cooperation, knowledge exchange, and opening new opportunities for Lebanese farmers and producers.

This participation follows a strategic action plan developed in coordination with President of the Republic General Joseph Aoun, aimed at activating agricultural diplomacy, overcoming obstacles facing Lebanese exports, and opening new markets for national products, thereby supporting farmers and boosting the rural economy.

Before his departure, Minister Hani said: "We are heading to Amman carrying the concerns and aspirations of the Lebanese farmer, foremost among them securing stable and sustainable markets for national production. We will work during our meetings to facilitate the export of Lebanese agricultural products, particularly apples and grapes, while addressing technical and logistical barriers, alongside strengthening cooperation and agricultural integration among regional countries."

He added: "Opening markets to Lebanese production is not merely a commercial issue; it is a fundamental pillar for protecting farmers, anchoring them on their land, and revitalizing the local economy. We are advancing this path in coordination with His Excellency President General Joseph Aoun, under a national vision that moves from ad hoc seasonal interventions to building a regular, sustainable export system ensuring quality, continuity, and competitiveness."

Hani emphasized that "the Lebanese agricultural product boasts quality and competitive strength, and what is needed now is to leverage these advantages through value chain development, improved sorting, packaging, cold storage, adherence to standards, and establishing more effective marketing pathways toward Arab and international markets."
