Imam Abdul Hussein Sadiq urges the Lebanese state to act against false military infrastructure claims and requests army deployment in Nabatieh.

Imam Abdul Hussein Sadiq of Nabatieh issued a statement expressing deep concern over a recent broadcast by a media channel citing a "Western source" that alleged the existence of extensive military infrastructure and tunnels beneath the city of Nabatieh.
The statement warned that such claims could promote targeting and destruction of the city, potentially providing false media legitimacy to a crime against its heritage and future.
He emphasized that Nabatieh is a historic city whose neighborhoods and markets have developed over many decades. It remains an open city with active social, educational, medical, and economic life. Given this daily activity and the presence of vital facilities, the notion of military infrastructure beneath the city lacks basic logic and objectivity.
Speaking on behalf of Nabatieh, the capital of Jabal Amel and the mother of its dear villages, the imam highlighted the city's rich history of knowledge, thought, literature, poetry, notable figures, stances, and heroism.
He also referenced the old neighborhood, with its authentic atmosphere emanating from its alleys and peaceful homes, and the residents who have sacrificed, endured, been displaced, resisted, and remained steadfast, their hearts filled with love for their land, as is the case for all people of the south. They long for the day they can return to their beloved homes buried under rubble.
The statement called on the Lebanese state to promptly assume its historical responsibility by investigating the fabricated news, following up on the details, and taking necessary communication steps to prevent any new targeting of the city, while protecting its remaining urban fabric, heritage, landmarks, and national legacy.
Furthermore, the residents of Nabatieh, within this appeal to the state, called for the Lebanese army to be tasked with entering the city. They also urged international media and any United Nations human rights bodies to observe the clear reality on the ground and easily verify the falsehood of the suspicious report and refute the fabricated allegations.
The imam concluded by praying for the protection of their beloved city and its honorable people, as well as the dear south, which safeguards all of Lebanon. He asked God Almighty to bless every sincere and honest national effort to halt aggression and ensure the dignified return of residents to embrace their land once again.
