In Lebanon, a Child Kidnapped for Marriage Purposes!

"In the context of continuous efforts by Internal Security Forces to combat crimes of all kinds across Lebanese territory, and following information received by the Intelligence Branch regarding a woman abducting a one-year-old child from his home in the Antelias area on August 9, 2026, specialized units within the branch immediately launched field and investigative procedures to uncover the circumstances of the incident, identify those involved, and apprehend them.

As a result of ongoing investigations, one of the branch’s patrol units apprehended a suspect on August 12, 2026, in the Aouzay area (born in 1999, Lebanese), who was in possession of the abducted child (born in 2025, Syrian nationality).

Upon questioning the detained individual, he stated that he had received the child from a woman with whom he was in a relationship, and that she had deceived him into believing the child was his.

Through extensive inquiries and investigations, the branch identified the woman suspected of involvement in the abduction—she is of Arab nationality—and determined her location.

On August 16, 2026, after meticulous surveillance and tracking, a specialized unit from the branch successfully apprehended her.

Upon interrogation, she confessed that she had met the child’s mother about a month prior, began building a close relationship with her, and sent the aforementioned man photos of herself with the child—taken later as selfies—while falsely claiming the child was his, in an attempt to pressure him into marrying her.

The child has been returned to his family, legal procedures have been carried out against her, and she has been referred to the competent judicial authority following a judicial referral."
