Kenan Discusses Reforms with French Envoy, Stresses Continued Cooperation to Reach Viable IMF Deal

Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee, MP Ibrahim Kenan, received at the Parliament the envoy of the French President for Economic Affairs, Jacques de Laugerie, accompanied by the head of the economic section at the French Embassy, Jean-Baptiste Cheval, and a delegation from the embassy.

The meeting focused on reform files, particularly the financial legislation passed by the parliament, including banking secrecy and bank restructuring, as well as the draft law currently under review between the IMF, the Ministry of Finance, and Banque du Liban, known as the "gap law."

Kenan thanked the French envoy for France's interest and support for Lebanon, affirming continued cooperation in the coming phase to reach a viable agreement with the IMF and a formula that guarantees depositors' rights and restores confidence in Lebanon.
