Litani Authority: Irrigation Water Cut for Three Days in Sidon–Jezzine Project

The National Litani River Authority announced in a statement "an emergency fault occurred at the pressure breaker No. 9 valve in the town of Al-Shawaleeq."

It said: "As a result of this fault, the Authority will be forced to cut off irrigation water starting from noon on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, for a period of no less than three days, from the northeastern side of the project, beginning from the location of pressure breaker No. (2) situated in the Tell al-Qasr area in Kfarfalous.

Technical teams in the Laboua Irrigation Department will begin maintenance work and dismantling of the valve to determine the nature and extent of the fault, in preparation for carrying out the necessary maintenance and repair works, under the supervision of the Investment and Maintenance Directorate of the National Litani River Authority.

The irrigation water outage includes the following areas and towns: Kfarfalous, Marah al-Habbas, Laboua, Karakha, Bakasta, Shawaleeq, parts of Ain al-Mir, Wadi Baanqoudin, Kafarya, Kafrjarra, Al-Salihiya, Al-Qarya (Al-Qarqashiya), Majdaloun, and Abba."

It called on "subscribers and farmers in the mentioned areas to irrigate their crops before the start of the outage period, and to take the necessary precautionary measures to overcome the supply stoppage, noting that irrigation water pumping will resume immediately upon completion of maintenance works, repair of the fault, and restoration of the line to service."

It affirmed that "its technical teams will work to complete the works as quickly as possible, limiting the duration of the outage and ensuring safe and regular restoration of supply."
