Minister of Industry Joe Issa El-Khoury issued Decision No. 80/1, calling on licensed olive mills to:

1- Collect wastewater (zeibar) in tanks with capacity proportional to the quantity produced during at least one working week, and refrain from dumping it into nature, rivers, waterways, or artesian wells, disposing of or reusing the wastewater in an environmentally sound manner.
2- Collect pomace (jift) in a separate room within the facility and ensure adequate ventilation to prevent the spread of odors, handing it over to authorities legally licensed for its reuse, recycling, or manufacturing.
This is subject to closure in case of non-compliance.
Article Two: This decision shall be communicated to those concerned.
