Minister Marqos Affirms No Obligation for Journalists to Appear Before Judicial Police
Minister of Information Paul Marqos met with the Public Prosecutor to discuss media freedom and legal protections for journalists.

Minister of Information, lawyer Paul Marqos, received the Public Prosecutor for Appeals, Judge Ahmed Rami Al-Hajj, at his office in the ministry.
Following their meeting, Marqos stated that they reaffirmed respect for the freedom of the press and freedom of opinion and expression as guaranteed by the constitution. He emphasized the application of legal procedures in prosecuting journalists, particularly the non-obligation for them to appear before the judicial police. The discussion also covered efforts to combat hate speech and misinformation, underscoring respect for the principle of separation of powers while enhancing coordination with the Ministry of Information to ensure the protection of journalists within legal frameworks.
Additionally, Marqos welcomed Ms. Amani Buzi and her daughter Asil Sharara, survivors of the Bint Jbeil massacre on September 20, 2025, which resulted in the deaths of her husband Shadi Sharara and their three children, Selin, Hadi, and Silan. The visit was to thank them for visiting him during their treatment.
After the visit, Buzi and her daughter expressed their appreciation for the support and condolences they received during their ordeal. Marqos reiterated his solidarity with them and all families who lost members or were injured due to Israeli attacks.
