Minister of Justice Adel Nassar rejected the targeting of Patriarch Al-Rahi, explaining that the matter relates to two aspects: the first political and the second judicial.
He said in a statement to Voice of Lebanon: "Regarding the political aspect, it is clear that Iran is negotiating directly with the United States, despite the fact that it assassinated the Supreme Leader and major leaders. However, Iran sat at the negotiation table despite the continued aggressions against Lebanon and what happened in Iran, noting that what is required from Hezbollah, according to the Iranian side, is to maintain the unstable situation in Lebanon and prevent it from conducting negotiations to protect itself, because the goal is for Hezbollah, through Iran, to remain a card in direct Iranian negotiations. However, this is unacceptable, and he considered that the anger that occurs is directed at everyone who demands a horizon to stop the Israeli aggressions. Just as Iran resorted to negotiations to stop the war against it, Lebanon has the right to conduct negotiations to stop the war against it."
He added: What is required from Hezbollah, as Tehran wants, is to obstruct any possibility of stopping the aggressions through negotiation, knowing, and we all know, that the party's weapon does not stop aggressions or war, but rather it can escalate an aggression into a war. Based on this, the attempt is completely rejected, and the second attempt in politics that must be highlighted is transforming the state's goal, which is to stop the war, from the electronic army into strife and a sectarian problem in Lebanon, and this is completely rejected, and no one will fall into this trap. The problem is not with a sect, but with a party entirely beholden to Iranian interests, and the Lebanese people, especially the people of the South, are paying its price.
Regarding the judicial aspect, Nassar affirmed that this matter falls under the jurisdiction of the Public Prosecution of Cassation according to the applicable laws, and we insist on the independence of the judiciary, expressing his belief that the Public Prosecution will examine this file with its contents and take measures according to the applicable laws while ensuring the course of justice.
