Lebanon
The Ministry of Economy and the Consumer Association have launched a new collaboration to handle citizen complaints, enhancing response speed and market oversight under Lebanon's updated consumer protection law.

A meeting was held at the Ministry of Economy and Trade, chaired by Minister of Economy Amr al-Bassat, with the presence of the ministry’s general director Muhammad Abu Haidar, president of the Consumer Association Zuhair Brou, and vice-president Dr. Nada Noumi, as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation and coordination in implementing the newly approved Consumer Protection Law by the Parliament, and encouraging consumers to report grievances for swift responses.
Both sides emphasized that the Consumer Association - Lebanon serves as a key partner in any discussion or initiative aimed at developing the consumer protection system and strengthening market supervision, based on its role in monitoring violations and direct communication with citizens.
It was agreed during the meeting to activate a joint mechanism for receiving citizens’ complaints via the association’s hotline (01750650), which will be forwarded to the Ministry of Economy and Trade to take necessary actions, ensuring rapid response and effective follow-up within an institutional partnership serving the public interest.

This cooperation comes alongside the ongoing efforts of the ministry to receive complaints through its electronic application (MoET Digital Services), expanding communication channels with citizens and enhancing swift response and oversight, in line with the effective implementation of the new Consumer Protection Law, whose amendments have increased fines for violators, imposing national and humanitarian responsibility on them amid difficult circumstances.
