The Ministry of Economy and Trade issued a statement warning fuel station owners against "using illicit methods to achieve illegal profits," following reports of tamperable fuel pumps circulating in Lebanese markets.

The statement clarified that "this information was verified during inspection operations conducted by the Ministry," noting that "the use of such pumps constitutes a blatant violation of Consumer Protection Law No. 659/2005, specifically Articles 48 and 49, which prohibit withholding goods matching the agreed quantity and using uncalibrated measures or tools for weighing with intent to defraud."

In this context, the Ministry of Economy demanded "all station owners equipped with these pumps, as well as companies and individuals who installed them, to report this immediately by submitting requests to seal them, within a period of three weeks from the issuance of this circular."

The Ministry also emphasized "the prohibition of installing or using any fuel pumps that do not contain a 'Dip Switch' calibration lock," confirming that it "will take strict measures to control violations and refer them to the competent judiciary."
