Prime Minister Nawaf Salam received US Senator James Lankford, in the presence of the US Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa and the accompanying delegation.
The meeting discussed developments in Lebanon and the region, particularly the situation in the south, and ways to proceed with implementing the tripartite framework. Salam stressed the necessity of establishing a clear timeline for implementing mutual commitments and setting up a verification mechanism based on the principles of reciprocity and phased implementation.
The discussion also addressed the importance of continuing US support for the Lebanese Army to enable it to perform its duties and extend state authority over all its territory, alongside supporting the path of return, recovery, and reconstruction in areas affected by the war.
