Peace on the Anniversary of Bashir Gemayel's Assassination: We Cannot Accept Political Assassination

Wrote Prime Minister Najib Mikati on "X": "On the anniversary of the assassination of elected President Bashir Gemayel, I affirm that no matter how intense and deep political disagreements may become, we cannot accept political assassination in our society, whether through explosives or silenced weapons. Our history has taught us that assassination may end a life, but it has never succeeded in resolving a conflict. Healing from the pages of our violent past does not come through denial or forgetting, but through honesty, reconciliation, and recourse to institutions and democracy in managing our differences."
