During a meeting with delegations from the Beirut and North Lawyers' Syndicates and economic bodies, President Joseph Aoun highlighted that the framework emerging from the Washington negotiations aligns with the logic of the state through its provisions, which safeguard Lebanon's rights both legally and on the ground.

He affirmed that Lebanon has neither surrendered nor compromised its rights, emphasizing that Lebanon is a sovereign state negotiating on its own behalf. He added that the decision to engage in negotiations was chosen as the best possible option following the failure of war experiences.

President Aoun also praised Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berri's stance aimed at preventing discord, stating that all parties agree that sedition and attacks on the army are prohibited. He clarified that the southern residents of all sects have the right to live in security without bearing the heavy costs of killing, destruction, and displacement that occur periodically.

He denied rumors suggesting a desire to dismiss the army commander and security chiefs, pointing out that their role is fundamental in maintaining security and extending state sovereignty.
