President Joseph Aoun assured Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shayebani that Lebanon is committed to establishing fraternal relations with Syria based on cooperation, coordination, and non-interference in each other's internal affairs.

He emphasized Lebanon's concern for Syria's stability, mirroring Syria's interest in Lebanon's stability, and expressed comfort with the ongoing coordination between the two countries, particularly in controlling borders and preventing the smuggling of people, weapons, and any threats to the security of both nations.

President Aoun highlighted that Speaker Al-Shar'a has repeatedly assured him in meetings and communications that Syria's role will differ from the past, indicating that a new chapter has opened between the two countries where Syria will not side with one party against another but will stand alongside all Lebanese citizens.

He also welcomed the formation of the supreme committee between Lebanon and Syria aimed at safeguarding the interests of both countries.

Foreign Minister Al-Shayebani conveyed greetings from Speaker Al-Shar'a to President Aoun and extended an official invitation to visit Damascus, confirming that the visit intends to strengthen bilateral relations and activate coordination, especially in the economic sector.
