President Aoun Congratulates General Security: Your Sacrifices Will Not Be in Vain
President Joseph Aoun congratulated the General Security on its 81st anniversary, praising its vital role in safeguarding Lebanon's security and stability amid ongoing challenges.

President of the Republic Joseph Aoun congratulated General Security Director Colonel Hassan Shqayr, officers, non-commissioned officers, employees, and military personnel on the 81st anniversary of the establishment of General Security, expressing his pride in "the rich history of this distinguished security institution filled with sacrifices and dedication to protecting the nation's security, ensuring its stability, securing its borders, and serving citizens and residents with honesty and responsibility," stating in a statement:
"This occasion arrives as Lebanon is going through a critical and exceptional phase in its history, where economic, social, and security challenges are intertwined, placing state institutions under a test of resilience and preparedness. Amid these harsh conditions, the General Security has proven itself a safety valve and a cornerstone of national stability, as its personnel continue carrying out their national, logistical, and security duties with high efficiency and unwavering steadfastness in the face of crises.
Today, the stakes are higher than ever for General Security and all other military and security institutions—a bet on the survival of the state and the rule of law. General Security stands as the first line of defense for community security, the vigilant eye over national sovereignty, and the mirror reflecting Lebanon’s civilized and institutional identity, protecting national security by maintaining readiness to confront all threats and dangers, combating terrorism and organized crime in all its forms, reinforcing the rule of law through strict and fair enforcement of laws, delivering services to all with transparency and discipline, preserving internal cohesion by safeguarding citizen security and institutional stability, and overcoming daily hardships through determination and due commitment.
The current economic and financial crisis affecting General Security personnel, as well as their counterparts in military and security institutions and all Lebanese citizens, is being addressed by the government with firm resolve and serious institutional action, supported by collective efforts to restore vitality and build a better future. I assure the General Security family—leadership, officers, and personnel—that the sacrifices you make are a source of pride for all Lebanese people, and will not go in vain.
May General Security have a blessed year ahead, so Lebanon and its people remain safe and well."
