President Aoun: State Security Regains Its Vitality After Attempts to Marginalize It

Republic President Joseph Aoun "congratulated the Director General of State Security, Major General Edgar Lawandis, officers, and all employees of the agency."

Aoun said, on the occasion of the 41st anniversary of the founding of the Directorate General of State Security: "We take pride in State Security, which has been, since its inception, a fundamental pillar for protecting stability and safeguarding public funds."

He continued: "The agency has proven, especially during the past two years, that it is regaining its vitality and natural role with confidence and competence, after attempts to limit and marginalize it," adding that "State Security has regained its position as a safety valve in combating corruption, exposing its networks, and curbing violations that waste public funds and citizens' rights."

President Aoun stressed that "the role of State Security is an integral part of the project to build a state of law and institutions, where perpetrators are held accountable, public funds are protected, and citizens' trust in their administration is restored," directing "a salute to the souls of the martyrs of State Security who were killed due to Israeli aggression on their headquarters in Nabatieh while performing their national duty."

He concluded: "The state will continue to support the agency and enhance its resources and capabilities, so that it remains, along with other military and security institutions, a pillar that protects the country, its people, and residents within it."
