Qablan to President Aoun: The Shia Sect is Too Large to Be Choked or Weakened by Anyone
Grand Mufti Ahmad Qablan addressed an open letter to Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, warning of existential threats and asserting that the Shia community remains too strong to be suppressed.

Grand Mufti of Ja'fari Affairs Sheikh Ahmad Qablan addressed an open letter to the President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, which stated:
"Your Excellency the President, the country faces an existential dilemma and a cumulative catastrophe. There must be a new logic to save it and re-employ national and sovereign political will necessary for its history, coexistence, format, and national partnership. Today, the management of national and sovereign files suffers severely from selfishness, foreign labyrinths, local fragmentation, sectarian pressure, internal gnawing, and loudspeakers of fierce sedition. Therefore, what we need is a modern strategic logic for an executive capable of gathering Lebanese people and implementing a formula of consensus and national partnership to advance the country's issues and prevent sectarian tendencies, regional complexes, and external games, as well as what is necessary to confirm comprehensive rescue unity for Lebanon. This is a necessity for the existence and establishment of the country, because the world lives in an international and regional forest obsessed with piracy that devours the weak, plunders states, and strikes the core of their stability and sovereignty. Today, global chaos swallows itself and sets fire to all its fields and regions amidst an arena where the region boils with disasters. With this and that, the reality of the Middle East is changing rapidly, and here lies the historical opportunity. There is no door before us to strengthen the conditions of Lebanon's sovereignty, steadfastness, and historical survival except national unity, internal partnership, and understanding each other away from political islands, sectarian tendencies, and external projects.
The issue is the issue of a country that wants to remain dear through itself and its people, far from the game of alleys, seditions, hired loudspeakers, and waves of accumulated pressure led by Washington and behind it Tel Aviv to strike Lebanon's unity, composition, and history. The moment is for symbolic correction of the noisy failure of adopted policies concerning political administration, including the framework agreement that allowed Zionists to turn the occupied southern region into an arena of systematic destruction and extermination targeting the Shia sect and its towns and cities specifically. Here lies the dilemma, because the authorities' policies live with this complex and must exit it. The equation of blind pressures does not help, and political closure closes the entire country. What we want is to preserve Lebanon and its sovereign national formula. In this field, the Lebanese authority cannot expect from Washington, Tel Aviv, and the rest who dive into Washington's backrooms anything but this bitter truth.
Today, the country is paralyzed and open to vertical failure, terrible attrition, persistent poverty, cartels obsessed with striking its structural resilience, in addition to the tsunami of social vacuum, loudspeakers of sedition, and dens cooking projects to tear Lebanon apart from within amidst crazy policies targeting the Shia sect, its structure, and its existence. This matter will change nothing in our reality except harming Lebanon's solid structure. The Shia sect is too large to be choked or weakened by anyone. It has no concern except Lebanon in its Islamic-Christian formula, its covenantal partnership, and its national sovereignty. It will defend Lebanon, its sovereignty, its shared life, and its historical formula with all the national strength it possesses. What the Shia sect has offered to this country has not been offered by anyone to their country in this world. Its capacity for survival and effectiveness is greater than anyone imagines in this world. Despite this, it is a national, self-made, resisting sect that has carried Lebanon's sacrifices since the first day of the Zionist entity's establishment and still carries the most complex and dangerous existential sacrifices for Lebanon. It will remain so as long as Lebanon needs those who pay national prices to protect its existence, sovereignty, shared life, and ability to survive. It is the nurturing mother of the army, the resistance, the state project, and shared living, and it will remain so as long as Lebanon's sovereignty and national interests need it. The moment is to launch a national cry to gather Lebanese ranks, prevent political tearing, fight loudspeakers of internal enmity, and close the door to external sedition. Any realistic and sovereign approach to the truth of national necessities will have the Shia sect at its heart, yet it will not accept any approach distant from Lebanon's national and sovereign reality. A national leader is one who takes initiative, gathers, rejects discrimination and surrender, and does not accept his country being torn apart, but fights the whole world for the sovereignty of his homeland Lebanon and the dignity of all its people."
