President Aoun's Washington Visit Aims to Secure US-Saudi Support for Lebanon
President Joseph Aoun's upcoming visit to the US seeks American-Saudi commitments to support Lebanon's army and economy in exchange for progress on disarming militias.

According to sources cited by Al-Jadeed TV, President Joseph Aoun's visit to the United States aims to obtain a US-Saudi pledge to back the Lebanese army and invest in Lebanon's economy. This support is expected in return for tangible progress on the issue of disarming militias and strengthening the authority of official state institutions.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced from France that the Lebanese president would visit the United States within one to two weeks.
Additionally, Al-Jadeed reported that a regional group of five countries—Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Iran—has begun preparations to hold its first meeting since the signing of the US-Iran memorandum of understanding. The agenda includes discussing the regional trajectory, Iran's relations with neighboring states, and addressing issues within these relations. The Lebanese file will be included as part of the discussion on proxy groups.
The report noted that the option of experimental zones is advancing over other alternatives, although the details regarding the locations and areas have not yet been finalized. These matters are scheduled to be discussed during a three-day meeting in Washington.
