Public Administration Employees’ League Joins General Strike on Monday

The Public Administration Employees’ League declared its participation in the general strike scheduled for next Monday. In a statement, the League described yesterday’s cabinet decision not as a financial resolution or a dispute over payment methodology, but as “a dismissal of the law, an ignoring of the State Council’s ruling, a blow to the principle of justice, and a persistent disregard for state employees—as if their rights are forfeit and their dignity holds no value.”

State Council Ruling Ignored

The League emphasized that the State Council had issued a clear legal opinion rejecting the installment-based disbursement of salary increases, and that the government’s subsequent disregard of that opinion constitutes a serious precedent undermining the authority of state institutions and the rule of law itself. It further stated that the continued adherence by the Ministry of Finance and other entities to policies that have driven public employees into severe economic collapse is no longer tolerable.

“The limit has been reached,” the League said. “The era of patience and accommodation is over. We will not allow yesterday’s decision to serve as an overt circumvention of our demand for the approval of eleven additional salaries effective at the start of 2027—whether through deferral or fragmentation under any pretext.”

Strike Marks Start of Escalation

The League confirmed its participation in Monday’s general strike in alignment with decisions taken by the Coordinating Committee of Public Sector Associations, and in rejection of both yesterday’s cabinet action and broader policies targeting employees’ livelihoods and dignity.

It stressed that Monday’s strike represents the beginning—not the conclusion—of escalating action. Further strikes, sit-ins, demonstrations, and field activities will be announced progressively. “Whoever underestimates employees’ rights bears responsibility for what follows,” the statement warned. “And whoever belittles the public administration should know: when the public administration speaks, no one can silence it.”
