Rai: We Do Not Accept the Truth Being Buried Under the Port Ruins

Archbishop Mar Bechara Boutros Rai stated that "Lebanon is still breathing with difficulty under the weight of crises, and officials are called upon to place the public interest above personal interests, with the salvation of the country beginning when politics shifts from power struggles to serving the common good."

He added during the homily at the feast of the blessed patriarch Stephan el-Duhy from Ehden: "Peace in Lebanon comes from peace in the south; rebuilding homes stabilizes people on their land, and the state remains the sole legitimate authority for citizens. We desire peace as a national decision that protects Lebanon and its people, keeps war’s fire away, and we renew our support for the framework agreement to establish fair and comprehensive peace."

He continued: "The memory of the Beirut port remains an unhealed wound, and we say we will not forget and will not accept the truth being buried under the port’s ruins."
