Raji Confirms Need for International Presence in the South During Meeting with German Foreign Minister

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Joseph Raji met with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, focusing the discussion on what comes after the end of UNIFIL's mandate.

Minister Raji clarified the Lebanese government's position advocating for the continued international presence in the south, stressing "the importance of supporting the Lebanese Army to enable it to fulfill its mission of establishing exclusive control by legitimate security forces across all Lebanese territory."

In turn, the German minister praised the Lebanese government's courage in decisions taken to restrict arms to state authority, expressing hope that "this path will be completed fully."
