Shahade Meets with Lebanese Business Association to Advance AI Adoption

A delegation from the Lebanese Business Association, led by Bassam Al Bouab, visited Minister of State for Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence Kamil Shahade, discussing the country's general situation, particularly the economic context, and ways to enable Lebanon’s public and private sectors to enter the world of artificial intelligence and keep pace with accelerating technological developments.

Shahade briefed the delegation on "the latest updates regarding his plan to digitize the public sector, especially efforts underway to secure a $240 million loan from the World Bank."

He highlighted "significant progress made in this regard," emphasizing that "completing this project will propel Lebanon into a new phase, making the Lebanese state, across all its ministries and agencies, more advanced and better equipped to meet the highest international standards."

In turn, the delegation presented to Shahade the association’s activities aimed at empowering Lebanese companies to access and optimally leverage artificial intelligence, along with workshops and training courses conducted in this framework. They explained that "these initiatives are part of the association’s broader goals to enable Lebanese businesses to access modern technologies, particularly AI, thereby enhancing their ability to maintain competitiveness and superiority in both local and global markets."

At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed to support Minister Shahade’s oversight of the association’s AI-related activities and strengthen cooperation and coordination between both sides, contributing to achieving set objectives and advancing Lebanon’s digital transformation.
