Sidon Municipality Issues Generator Subscription Costs for September
The Sidon Municipality's Generator Sector Regulation Committee has released the regulatory controls and electricity subscription costs for September 2026, detailing tariffs, fixed charges, and compliance requirements.

The Generator Sector Regulation Committee at the Sidon Municipality issued a statement regarding the regulations and electricity subscription costs for September 2026, based on the following:
Private generator owners are bound by the tariff issued by the Ministry of Energy and Water for August, which is 52.840 LBP per kilowatt-hour, provided that supply hours from the generator do not fall below 12 hours daily. If supply hours exceed 17 hours, the price becomes 61.000 LBP per kilowatt-hour (based on an average dollar rate of 89,500 LBP).
Fixed Meter Component: The fixed subscription fee is priced as follows:
385,000 LBP for a capacity of 5 amperes.
685,000 LBP for a capacity of 10 amperes.
An additional 300,000 LBP is added for every extra 5 amperes.
Elevators and Shared Sections (Triphase): For subscriptions with three-phase capacities, the fixed component should be calculated based on the capacity of one phase (Monophase). Example: If the elevator and shared sections subscription uses a three-phase breaker of 3×15 amperes, the fixed component is calculated based on a 15-ampere capacity, not 45 amperes (i.e., 985,000 LBP, not 2,785,000 LBP).
Mandatory Detailed Invoice: This must include the generator owner's name, address, and phone number; the subscriber's name; subscription capacity; previous and current meter readings; monthly consumption; kilowatt price; consumption value; fixed subscription according to the ministry's pricing; and the final total without any additions except Value Added Tax if applicable.

Service Cessation Notice Period: If a generator owner decides to permanently shut down their generator and exit service, they are required to provide a 3-month notice period by submitting a written notification to the municipality registry.
Judicial Follow-up: Based on the agreement between the Generator Sector Regulation Committee, the Economic Directorate in the South, and the Public Prosecution in the South, the Public Prosecution will receive citizen complaints through relevant police stations to take necessary legal actions against violators. The committee will officially inform the Public Prosecution of this statement's content.
The municipality reminded the ministry to warn generator owners and citizens against adding any of the following to the tariff:
1- Value Added Tax (VAT) unless legally justified by official registration with the VAT Directorate at the Ministry of Finance.
2- Additional fees or amounts under any pretext (such as generator maintenance or network costs).
3- Imposing extra fees on citizens who own solar energy systems."
